The mission of BodiGlypiX Foundation, Inc. is to reduce the epidemic of childhood obesity within the communities we support. Our purpose is to transform, equip and impact the lives of youth and their families by enriching their quality of life through nutrition, fitness training and wellness education.
The issue of childhood obesity is a result from the lack of physical activity and poor nutrition. BodiGlyphiX Foundation Inc was created to combat childhood obesity and improve the lives of youth in the metro Atlanta area. Obesity is not just a physical concern. Obesity lowers self esteem and morale within our youth. Our goal is to provide parents and youth the resources necessary to create awareness about the issues of obesity.
According to the Georgia Department of Human Resources, childhood obesity is a significant public health problem within the state of Georgia. Children that suffer from obesity are more likely to suffer from obesity as an adult. Children that are faced with obesity issues have a higher risk for hypertension, asthma, diabetes and low self-esteem. The National Center for Health Statistics report that the amount of elementary aged students has doubled over the years. About 85% of these students are continued to be classified as being obese for the rest of their lives.
